About the original Dreilander MTB route
The original Dreilander MTB Tour was a self-guided, four-stage journey through Italy, Switzerland and Austria. Starting points included Livigno, Scuol, Nauders and Santa Maria in Val Müstair. Hotel bookings, route information and luggage transfers formed part of the former package. The tour is now suspended; the information below is retained as an archive.
Why is it a good choice to start from Livigno also if you come from the North side of Europe?
Livigno was a convenient starting point for visitors who wanted to extend their stay in the region. The original programme also allowed starts in Nauders, Scuol or Santa Maria in Val Müstair. These arrangements refer to the suspended tour.

When
You will ride in the core of the Alps, Dreilander Tour is feasible in June, July, August and September.
Start point
The starting point is Livigno (I), then you will ride toward Nauders (A), Scuol, St Maria (CH) and then back in Livigno.

Luggage transport
The original luggage service transferred bags between hotels while guests rode the stages.
Difficulty
The original tour offered a more demanding A route and a less demanding B alternative.
Dreilander tour – A Version
198 KM AND 6743m elevation in 4 days
The published totals for the historical A route were 198 km and 6,743 m of ascent over four days. This was the more demanding variant and required good fitness and mountain biking experience. The two variants shared their starting and finishing towns.
Dreilander tour – B Version
168 KM and 5250M elevation in 4 days
The historical B route was listed as 168 km and 5,250 m of ascent over four days. It was less demanding than A but was not a beginner route. Mountain weather, trail conditions and the effort of consecutive riding days remained important considerations.

The historical route had two variants. Version A was the more demanding option, with a published total of 198 km and 6,743 m of ascent over four days. Version B was listed as 168 km and 5,250 m of ascent. Although less demanding than A, it still required fitness and mountain biking experience.
The stages shared their starting and finishing towns, allowing riders to choose a variant each day. Weather affected the difficulty, and these archived figures should not be treated as a current route or booking offer.

Nauders – Hotel Central (Austria) Hotel
Hotel Central in Nauders, Austria, was one of the accommodation options in the original programme. This family-run four-star hotel is in the village centre at around 1,400 m, near the Italian and Swiss borders. The historical programme listed free Wi-Fi. This is an archive reference, not confirmation of a current tour booking or hotel service.
Scuol – Hotel Bellaval – Switzerland
Situated right below the lower terminus of the Motta Naluns cable car, the Bellaval hotel offers you fine cuisine and a modern spa area.
The train and the bus station can be easily reached on foot and within a 2-minute walk you can reach the cable car station.
The rooms in Engadin style offer superb views of the beautiful Unterengadin.
In the Swiss-pine dining room, in the cosy Fondue Stübli and on the terrace you can enjoy tasty Swiss cuisine and delicious Grisons and Italian specialities.
The spa area of the Bellaval hotel with a swimming pool, a hot tub, a sauna, a steam bath, massages and much more invites you to fully relax.
A bicycle storage room with video surveillance and a small repair room are also offered at the hotel. A free overnight laundry service for your cycling gear is available on site.
From April to November you can use all buses in the Lower Engadine, and the Rhaetian Railway as far as Zernez free of charge. From June to October, the Scuol-Ftan Mountain Railway is free of charge. WIFI Free.
Santa Maria Mustair – Hotel Chavalatsch – Switzerland
Due to the closure of the hotel restaurant, from 2023 the stay in Santa Maria Mustair for the Dreilander will be managed in a B&B. Customers can dine independently in one of the two villages of Tubre and St Maria where there are restaurants and pizzerias.
